My word. Ten whole years – A DECADE – of directing this wonderful, hilarious group of outstanding humans, the Queen Bs.
Truly, a celebration was called for, and heckfire, it was a hell of a time seeing my Bs perform to a packed, sold-out Laugh Out Loud Theater. Not only did they absolutely crush it, but they even surprised me by inviting me on stage to participate in a custom game in my honor!
I really can’t say enough about what a joy and a gift directing this ensemble has been, and continues to be! I so darn lucky that their first choice for a director was too busy. And their second choice for a director had just fallen ill with Typhus. And their third choice for a director had gone to prison for manslaughter. And then, they asked me.
I got to be there from the beginning. Helping them come up with their name, preparing them for their very first performances, and encouraging the traits that would become their signature: playing with a ton of joy, supporting each other relentlessly, and having plenty of MOXIE.
I’m damn proud and damn fortunate to know these five ladies and to see them slay audiences all over Chicagoland.
