I love it when Avalanche Theatre enlists me to read some new works! Their new Show & Tell Showcase is a staged reading series for scripts originally seen at their monthly play reading series, Show & Tell. It’s pay-what-you-can shows where you can hear the plays in very early drafts and help provide some initial audience feedback!
I’ll be appearing in two of the three readings this week, alongside a BUNCH of excellent folks.
In Flower Girl by Maddie Kovach, I will indeed portray poor, misunderstood Claudius. (And Guildenstern!)
King Hamlet has just died and Elsinore is reeling. Hamlet can’t sleep. Gertrude won’t leave her fencing studio. Ophelia meets the ghost of her mother by the river. Instead of killing herself she decides to plant a garden. Flower Girl is an adaptation for those who want to hang out in Hamlet’s world for a little while.

In Prosperity by Javian Walter, I get to play the wisened bartender of the Edgewater Beach Hotel.
In summer 1972, the prosperity gospel preacher Brother Herbert Bailey comes to Chicago on an evangelical crusade and makes big promises to heal the Hickscorners’ baby. Under pressure from his mistress Helen Mason, his congregation, and a meticulous journalist, Herbert Bailey has a lot to answer for if people discover he has been spreading lies about God.
