That’s right, Eclectic Full Contact Theatre’s Patchwork New Play Festival is back for its second year. Nine of the best new one-act plays from around the world, performed in rotating rep, highlighting this year’s theme of YEARNING. And I’m friggin’ YEARNING to return to the stage! The plays are adjudicated by a panel of Chicago theatre community luminaries, with a $259 prize for the panel’s favorite playwright, which I assume I’ll be getting a cut of.
In last year’s fest, I attempted to smother my patient. This year, I’m going to smother the audience with charm as an absent father trying to make amends with his adult daughter in All Grown Up by Dana Hall, directed by Anthony Williams.
It’s a real sweet, funny play that I’m thrilled to put in front of an audience. 4 times. Exactly.
